Week 8 Roundup: Anna upsets top-ranked Coldwater; Northmont, Alter, Troy move to 7-1

Anna High School quarterback Bart Bixler found Isaac Lininger from 20 yards out late in the fourth quarter and the Rockets converted a two-point conversion to beat Division VI top-ranked Coldwater 21-20 in a Midwest Athletic Conference game on Friday night.

Anna’s Riley Huelskamp rushed for 164 yards and Lininger rushed for 133 yards and two TDs as the the Rockets scored 14 points in the fourth quarter in the victory, improving to 6-2 and 5-1 in the conference.

Coldwater’s Mitch Niekamp rushed for 146 yards and one touchdown for the Cavaliers (7-1, 5-1 MAC).

Northmont 35, Centerville 20: Thunderbolts quarterback Miles Johnson threw four TD passes, including three in the first half. Johnson went 19-for-23 for 287 yards for Northmont (7-1).

Bolts wideout Justin Golson caught 10 passes for 187 yards and three scores and teammate Jestin Jacobs rushed for 94 yards on five carries, including a 70-yard TD run.

Centerville quarterback Chase Harrison went 28-of-46 for 261 yards and two scores for the Elks (0-8).

Troy 38, Sidney 19: Jaydon Culp-Bishop rushed 30 times for 137 yards and three TDs as the Trojans improved to 7-1 and 3-0 in the Greater Western Ohio Conference American North division.

Alter 17, Badin 7: The Knights won their seventh straight game, improving to 7-1 and 5-0 in the Greater Catholic League Coed North Division. Badin fell to 5-3 and 3-2 in the GCL Coed South.

Chaminade Julienne 20, McNicholas 14: Quincy Johnson had two TD runs, including a 95-yarder, and Luke Chandler added another as Eagles coach Marcus Colvin earned his 50th head coaching victory. C-J improved to 7-1 and 4-1 in the GCL Coed North.

Carroll 33, Roger Bacon 21: The Patriots trailed 21-20 at the half, but scored 13 unanswered points to snap a three-game losing streak. Carroll is 5-3 and 2-3 in the GCL Coed North.

Tecumseh 18, Ben Logan 13: David Berner rushed for 165 yards and two scores and Gavin Wasson added 108 yards and a TD as the Arrows improved to 5-3 overall.

Springboro 37, Fairborn 0: Panthers junior Willieon Yates rushed for 228 yards and three TDs as the Panthers improved to 4-4.

Quarterback Landon Palmer went 13-for-17 for 173 yards and two TDs in the victory.

Trotwood-Madison 47, Stebbins 0: Cooper Stewart threw three TD passes and rushed for another as the Rams rolled to a GWOC American South Division win.

Justin Stephens, Geroge Anderson and Kenyon Sneed all caught TD passes, while Keon’tae Huguely and Jashawn Young added TD runs for the Rams (6-2, 3-0).

Marion Local 7, Minster 6: The Flyers' Nolan Habodasz scored on a 74-yard run as the Flyers remained unbeaten at 8-0 and 6-0 in the MAC.

D-VII No. 8 Minster fell to 5-3 and 3-3 in the conference.

Xenia 63, West Carrollton 27: Christian Severt rushed for 150 yards and two scores and teammate Nick Willis rushed for 111 yards and two scores in the Buccaneers (5-3, 2-0) GWOC American South Division win.

Mechanicsburg 33, Triad 7: Aaron Conley had two rushing TDs and Logan Hurst, Joey Mascadri and Jake Hurst each scored rushing TDs as the Indians improved to 7-1 and 2-1 in the Ohio Heritage Conference North Division.

West Jefferson 55, Northeastern 19: The Roughriders' Gabe Jones rushed for 154 yards and three scores as West Jefferson improved to 6-2 and 2-1 in OHC North.
