RELATED: Humane society nears deal with Miami Twp. for Austin land
The Miami Twp. Zoning Commission voted last week to recommend the change. If trustees adopt the measure, the following are among the uses that would be permitted and prohibited on the land not proposed for sale to the humane society:
PERMITTED
• Professional offices for the accounting, banking, engineering, legal, medical and dental professions.
• Child daycare.
• Retail, business support, including dry cleaning pick-up and drop-off center; travel agency; business machine sales and service; beauty parlor/barber shop or tanning salon; tailoring, shoe sales and repair.

• Manufacturing, assembling, testing and repair of component devices, equipment and systems of an electrical, electronic or electromagnetic nature.
• Public park or nature preserve, including athletic fields for organized sports such baseball, football, soccer, and track;
PROHIBITED
• Assembly or manufacture of automobiles and automobile bodies; machine and tool and die shops; metal buffing, plating and polishing shops.
• Mini-storage or self-storage facilities of any kind or size (excluding personal
storage/day lockers), whether for rental or sale.

• Truck, tractor, and trailer sales, rental, and repair; truck terminals, not meeting the criteria outlined in the approved preliminary plan; truck plazas and truck stops.
• Heating and electric power generating stations (excluding alternative power supply/backup generators for uses located on the property); junk, scrap, wrecking yards or salvage yards.
• Fertilizer, cement, lime, gypsum, or plaster manufacturing; manufacturing, storage, or sales of explosives.
