Man shot at in robbery at Shell gas station parking lot in Dayton

A man trying to buy cigarettes at a gas station was shot at and robbed, according to a Dayton police report.

Officers were responded to a report of an armed robbery  around 11:42 p.m. Thursday.

The victim told police that he went to the Third Street Shell gas station to purchase cigarettes when he was approached by two men in the parking lot, according to the report.

One of the suspects reportedly commented on the victim’s watch and told the victim to give it to him. The victim declined and started to run away when the pair began chasing him, read the report.

One of the suspects reportedly pulled out a gun and shot at the victim twice.

When the suspects caught up to the victim, he handed over the watch, according to the report.

The suspect then reportedly left scene and ran to Gettysburg Avenue business to call the police. He said he passed out for 20 to 30 minutes before he was able to call 911, read the report.

Officers spoke to the gas station attendant about the incident, but he reported that he did not see or hear anything.

Police were unable to access the security cameras at that time, but were told it would be available in the morning, according to the report.

The victim reportedly had chest pains and thought he was having a panic attack, so officers requested a medic, read the report.
