Woman, child suffer serious injuries after car crashes into tree in Huber Heights

UPDATE @ 7:30 p.m.:

A woman and 6-year-old child suffered serious injuries after their car struck a tree on Bellefontaine Road, said Huber Heights police Sgt. Brian Carr.

The crash was reported around 6:10 p.m. in the 8900 block of Bellefontaine Road.

The car was traveling northbound when the driver, who was apparently asleep, lost control, went off the east side of the road and struck a mailbox.

The driver then woke up, over-corrected, went over the west side of the road and crashed head-on into a tree, which resulted in the driver becoming unconscious, Carr said.

The child in the backseat was unrestrained, said Carr.
