Minor injuries reported after 3-vehicle crash closes I-70 West in Huber Heights

A man suffered minor injuries in a three-vehicle crash Tuesday that shut down Interstate 70 West for more than two hours in Huber Heights.

A silver Buick was traveling in the left lane when it attempted to merge in thte middle lane near state Route 201/Brandt Pike. The driver failed to check for other vehicle before merging and hit the front of a Jeep in the middle lane, said Huber Heights police Lt. Brian Carr.

Both vehicles then tried to veer away from each other but were hit by a semitrailer. All the vehicles were pushed into the median by the impact and hit a concrete wall.

The Buick was lodged between the wall and the semi, but the driver was able to climb out of the vehicle. He was taken to Miami Valley Hospital with minor injuries, said Carr.

The crash closed I-70 West for approximately two and a half hours.

Speed and distracted driving are possible factors in the crash, Carr said. No citations have been issued at this time.
